This lil’ ditty was written after a horribly offensive run-in with a volunteer at our community-wide VBS in June of 2012.
Verse 1
I really don’t appreciate the way you talk to me.
I wish you could open your heart and see what I see.
I am polite, so I wont give it back to you,
Chorus
With all the joy in the world, why you got to be so darn* rude?
Verse 2
I really should empathize, and not scrutinize-
I bet you had a hard life.
Nothing justifies casting your anger on me.
Chorus
With all the joy in the world, why you got to be so darn* mean?
Verse 3
I aced classes on you called conflict resolution.
Post-dwelling, I’ve come to a solution.
Your personality is toxic to my soul.
Chorus
Got too much joy in my world, I’m letting this grudge go.
Bridge
Our days too busy, our lives too short
Choosing joy should not be such a chore.
So I prayed my impure thoughts away.
You can keep yelling,
But I’m walking away.
Chorus
Got too much joy in my world, I’m letting this grudge go. (3x)
*Depending on one’s amount of anger (and audience type), one could replace this term with another therapeutic one.
